The Global
Courage Award for Freedom

The Freedom Award

This OXI Courage Award drew inspiration from Greece’s bold NO or “OXI” to the Axis forces. This courageous act played a profound role in determining the outcome of World War II. This Global Courage Award honors today’s heroes around the world who — in the spirit of Oxi Day — courageously battle Goliaths for freedom and democracy.

The Annual Awards
and Ceremony

Established in 2011, the Foundation carries out its signature event bringing together senior US policymakers and other international opinion leaders and influential Washingtonians, along with prominent Greek-American leaders to celebrate those who display the “Oxi Day Spirit” for freedom and democracy.

The Washington OXI Day Foundation

The Washington OXI Day Foundation commemorates the day Greece courageously refused to surrender to the Axis Forces and played a profound role in bringing down the Axis Forces in WWII. As a nonprofit, 501c3 organization we are dedicated to informing global policymakers and the public about the profound role Greece played in bringing about the outcome of World War II and celebrating modern day heroes who exhibit the same courage as the Greeks did in continuing to fight to preserve and promote freedom and democracy around the world.
Honoring those who've overcome challenges, taken risks, & made a positive impact.
